The FYP Cultural Ambassadors
The FYP Houston Cultural Ambassadors are a fun-loving, all-volunteer dance troupe sharing the Filipino culture through colorful and exciting performances and interactive events throughout the Houston community.

Join us! We always welcome new faces from all walks of life – you do not have to be of Filipino descent. Even if you’ve never danced before, you’ll find a relaxed and inviting space for beginners to learn or old pros to brush up—and you just might get hooked. We promise you will make friends, share food, and have fun!

Our dances range across the rich variety of Filipino tradition. Our signature is the tinikling, where dancers step in and out of clapping bamboo and avoid getting caught, a motion said to imitate the tikling bird escaping farmers’ traps. We perform a set of Spanish-influenced dances called the cariñosa and the jota manileña, while wearing the barong and Maria Clara garb. We also dance the pandanggo sa ilaw, where candles in glasses are balanced in our hands and on our heads, and the binasuan, balancing glasses of water. And we offer dances from the southern regions including kapa malong malong and the fan dance kzadoratan.

Reach out anytime! We are excited to hear from you!
